There was big corporate news at Aristocrat this week as they announced that the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) was to be filled by Maureen Sweeny with immediate effect. While the role is based in Las Vegas, where many of Aristocrat’s corporate activities now take place, it will have a noticeable impact here in Australia as Sweeny will be responsible for the global Class III sales and marketing footprint. This means deep involvement with Australia and New Zealand, the Americas, Asia Pacific and the growing EMEA region.

Jamie Odell, Aristocrat’s CEO, was on hand to comment on the impact that he expects Sweeny’s appointment to have, saying: “Maureen’s first class operational and commercial skills will help us deliver a step change in our customer facing functions, making sure that our customers get the maximum benefit from the outstanding Class III product portfolios that we are now bringing to market.”

“Maureen’s appointment will deliver better consistency and focus on our frontend capability, and improved service across out global Class II businesses. I am delighted to welcome Maureen to the team,” he continued.

Aristocrat’s Class III games represent the very latest in the company’s pokies portfolio and is particularly notable for the inclusion of brand new features that enhance existing games. New Class III pokies include the Gold Class Cash Express range, which relies on a multiplier wheel and randomly awarded progressive jackpots to enhance some all time favourite games including Buffalo, 50 Lions, Geisha, Pompeii and More Chilli.

The person that is taking on the role, Maureen Sweeny, also commented on her appointment, saying: “It is a privilege for me to lead Aristocrat’s Class III sales and marketing globally at this exciting time. The business’ investments in industry leading creative talent and technology have delivered compelling Class III game and system product portfolios across our major markets.

“I will be working closely with our team to translate the world’s best Class III portfolios into more performance and greater success for our customers. I look forward to meeting as many of our valued customers as possible over the coming weeks and, of course, at G2E 2014.”

While the new CCO’s responsibilities are of course divided over much of the world, the fact that Aristocrat has opted to fill the role with immediate effect, with a particular focus on their domestic market, means that land based fans can expect plenty of great new action, not to mention more great updates to all-time favourites such as the games mentioned above. Regarding G2E 2014, it is one of the biggest gaming trade shows in the world, so expect plenty of news in the coming weeks from all of your favourite developers – you’ll find out everything that is relevant to Aussie players right here on the blog!
